Mental Health Matters

Mental Health needs care too; do a self-check in & try some healthy mind habits. What are your tips for de-stressing?

All things begin in your mind; dreams, fears, creativity, knowledge & more. With that much going on it's important to take care of your most valuable asset. Don't ignore signs that may be asking for some care & concern. This is the perfect time to self examine what's going and to take any necessary actions!

Start by talking about your feelings and not suppressing your emotions. Engage in positive self-talk, examine what seems to be going on inside. Once identified, unpack the various obstacles and think about the changes that can be made to promote peace in your mind.

This may not be something that fixes itself right away but at least the process has been started.

Remember everyone has down days and that's ok, but just don't fall into a blue slump. Your mind is very powerful so be sure to use it, don't abuse it and take care of it.

Establish good mind habits to get the best results so it will be ready for action when you need it most!

Try to incorporate some simple steps for good mind health. Start by asking yourself these self care questions:

Are you….

  • Getting enough sleep,

  • Drinking plenty of water

  • Balancing your food choices

  • Walking regularly

  • Communicating with other people?

I'm working on ALL THESE things and it a challenge!!

Do your best to cover these actions regularly & if you still feel off for a prolonged time period, it's ok & you should consider seeking professional assistance.

But let's work on improving, talking about validating feelings, and becoming the best we can be.

Healthy Eating

Summer is the perfect time to focus on healthy eating habits. With an abundance of fresh fruits and vegetables available, it's easy to incorporate them into meals and snacks.

Salads are a great option for lunch or dinner, as they can be filled with leafy greens, colorful veggies, and lean protein. Grilling is also a healthy way to cook meats and vegetables without adding extra fat.

It's important to stay hydrated during the hot summer months, so drinking plenty of water and snacking on juicy fruits like watermelon and strawberries can help keep you refreshed.

While it's okay to indulge in the occasional treat, focusing on nourishing your body with healthy foods will help keep you feeling energized and ready to enjoy all the fun summer activities.

Staying Safe While Exercising

Summer exercising can be enjoyable but it's important to take precautions to ensure safety. One of the most important things is to stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water before, during and after exercise.

Wearing appropriate clothing and sunscreen can also help prevent heat exhaustion and sunburn.

It's important to exercise in the early morning or late evening when the temperatures are cooler.

If you feel tired or dizzy, it's important to stop exercising and rest in a cool place.

Additionally, it's important to be aware of the signs of heat stroke such as high body temperature, dizziness, headache, and confusion.

By taking these safety measures, you can still enjoy your summer exercise routine while staying healthy and safe.
